 How to sublimation tumblers?

Sublimation is a popular method for transferring designs onto tumblers made from materials like stainless steel, aluminum, or polymer-coated plastic. Here are the basic steps for sublimating a tumbler:

Materials:

  • Sublimation printer
  • Sublimation ink
  • Sublimation paper
  • Heat-resistant tape
  • Heat-resistant gloves
  • Sublimation tumbler
  • Heat press machine or convection oven

Steps:

  1. Choose or create a design for your tumbler and print it onto sublimation paper using a sublimation printer and ink. Be sure to mirror the image before printing, as it will be flipped when transferred to the tumbler.

  2. Wrap the sublimation paper around the tumbler, aligning the design as desired. Secure the paper in place using heat-resistant tape.

  3. Preheat your heat press machine or convection oven to the appropriate temperature for sublimation on the material of your tumbler.

  4. Put on heat-resistant gloves to protect your hands from the heat.

  5. Place the wrapped tumbler into the heat press machine or convection oven and apply heat for the recommended time and temperature, according to the manufacturer's instructions for your specific sublimation printer, ink, paper, and tumbler material.

  6. Once the sublimation process is complete, carefully remove the tumbler from the heat press machine or convection oven using heat-resistant gloves.

  7. Allow the tumbler to cool completely before removing the sublimation paper and tape.

  8. Admire your sublimated tumbler, and enjoy using it or gifting it to someone special.

It's important to note that sublimation can only be used on materials that have been specially coated for sublimation, and not all tumblers may be suitable for this process. Additionally, the sublimation process can be difficult to master and may require some trial and error to achieve the desired results.
