How to make tumblers with epoxy?

Epoxy is a popular material for creating smooth and glossy finishes on tumblers. Here are the basic steps for making tumblers with epoxy:

Materials:

  • Tumbler
  • Epoxy resin
  • Epoxy hardener
  • Mixing cups
  • Stir sticks
  • Disposable gloves
  • Torch or heat gun
  • Painters tape
  • Glitter or other embellishments (optional)

Steps:

  1. Clean the tumbler with soap and water and dry thoroughly.

  2. Use painter's tape to mask off any areas of the tumbler you do not want to epoxy.

  3. Put on disposable gloves and mix the epoxy resin and hardener according to the manufacturer's instructions in a mixing cup.

  4. Pour the epoxy mixture onto the tumbler, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Be careful not to pour too much at once, as this can cause air bubbles to form.

  5. Use a stir stick or toothpick to spread the epoxy evenly over the surface of the tumbler, making sure to cover all areas.

  6. If desired, add glitter or other embellishments to the epoxy while it is still wet.

  7. Use a torch or heat gun to remove any air bubbles from the epoxy. Hold the heat source about 4-6 inches away from the surface of the epoxy and move it in a circular motion until all bubbles have popped.

  8. Allow the epoxy to dry and cure according to the manufacturer's instructions. This can take several hours or even overnight.

  9. Once the epoxy is dry and cured, carefully remove the painter's tape and admire your new epoxy-coated tumbler.

It's important to note that working with epoxy can be messy and potentially hazardous, so be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and follow all safety precautions recommended by the manufacturer. Additionally, the epoxy may yellow over time if exposed to UV light, so it's important to store and use your epoxy-coated tumbler away from direct sunlight.
